The Centre for Mysticism is a non-profit organisation, existing for the promotion of the study and understanding of mysticism and its historical and contemporary significance.

In order to further its purpose, the Centre …

• understands ‘mysticism’ to imply the dimensions of
• enlightened wisdom and insight
• lucidity of emotions and will, and
• clarity of universal benevolence and generosity

• understands mysticism to partly overlap with the fields of religion, science, philosophy and esotericism

• respects all forms of mysticism manifesting themselves in history

• assumes that mysticism is rooted in the basic constitution of the human species

• notes and promotes the convergence of all historical forms of mysticism in the world of today and tomorrow in open, friendly and critical dialogue

• engages in dialogue with the sciences (the natural sciences, psychology, sociology, history and so on)

• distributes information on relevant literature

• organises colloquia, conferences and so on

• contributes to the development of a broad, inclusive historical framework of understanding mysticism

• contributes to the development of theory on mysticism
